Sicma, the versatility of the TL shredder
The spotlight is on the new TL shredder at the Sicma stand in Bologna, which is being previewed at this year's Bologna trade fair. Available in four working widths (120-140-160-190 cm), the new model has been designed to shred grass of different sizes and to be combined with tractors with power from 25 to 45 Hp and 540 rpm PTO. The 2,340 rpm rotor shaft can be equipped with special Y-shaped hammers suitable for light shredding or with specific “goose foot” hammers for shredding grass; the hammers can be replaced manually by the operator, without having to use any specific tool for their removal. The drive transmission is handled by a system composed of three belts with automatic tensioner for maximum fluidity of operation, while two parking supports allow it to be hooked up to the tractor quickly and easily (a rear support facilitates the combination with the three-point hitch). The new TL also stands out for its body designed for two working positions, one central and the other 240 mm off-center, and for its low lateral profile design, which allows it to better overcome obstacles. Finally, the layout of the machine is completed by the internal serrated cutting bar with the function of reducing the size of the shredded material, the adjustable rear roller with a diameter of 127 mm, the front safety chains and the rear rubber deflector. Remaining in the shredder segment, the new reversible shredders of the TF series will be exhibited at EIMA with powers from 60 to 150 Hp with working widths between 160 and 230 cm for the standard version and 250 and 280 cm for the XL version. The TF models can be combined both at the rear and front of the tractor with the BRM Gearboxes multiplier with double PTO, built-in freewheel (the double is optional) and reinforced hitch frame which ensures the reliability of the machine even for prolonged use. The power take-offs (PTO) can rotate at two speeds: 540 rpm and 1,000 rpm, for a shaft-rotor rotation speed of 2,050 and 2,120 rpm, respectively. Furthermore, the rotor shaft (with a diameter of 152.4 and 193.7 mm for the XL version) features a helical arrangement of the tools and is electronically balanced on the production line. This solution reduces vibrations, allows for less power to be absorbed from the tractor and improves the finish of the shredded material. Between the standard version and the new XL version, the size of the hammers stands out: in the XL versions they are oversized, while for the knife equipment the difference is not in the size but in the number of units provided (three instead of two). Finally, the robust and reliable rotor shaft supports and bearings ensure a long lifetime.
Other strong points of the TF are the hydraulic lateral movement function with a 400 mm stroke and the box-shaped body (the ends are chamfered to avoid dragging vegetation) equipped with multiple rows of counter-beaters which improve the shredding of pruning shoots, stalks and pruning residues. The shredder can also be equipped with a rear roller with a diameter of 193.7 mm. Finally, the upper three-point hitch with slots - for the front connection to the tractor - optimizes the machine's adaptation to the ground.
