Since last autumn, the PCW4500 winch made by the Canadian manufacturer Portable Winch Co. has been on sale in Europe. It is also distributed in Italy by a company called Thor - Ricca Andrea & C. Snc (headquartered in Busca, in the Cuneo area). The winch offered by the North American company stands out for its centrifugal clutch system, which allows the winch drum to turn only when the rope is pulled (once the tension is released the drum stops), and for its progressive capture technology, which locks the rope for better control of the load (a simple sideways movement deactivates it). Another plus of the PCW4500 is the Maruyama CER500W two-stroke engine which, with an actual pulling capacity of 1,200 kg, offers a significant increase in power (+20% according to the manufacturer) compared to previous models and is thus easily capable of performing even the most demanding operations.

“The decision to use a two-stroke engine is in line with our commitment to offer versatile, high-performance tools not only for the forestry and arboricultural sector, but also for the off-road transport sector. We chose the Maruyama engine for its quality and reliability. This partnership - said Pierre Roy, CEO of Portable Winch Co - allows us to offer operators a product that exceeds their expectations, with the added benefit of a 5-year extended warranty both on the engine and on the winch itself.”

Finally, among the other benefits of the winch distributed by Thor, include the tension bar on the entry hook, to prevent the rope from getting caught in the winch drum, and the plate that protects the operator's foot when starting the winch.
