Scorpion, the new telescopic handler series by Claas
Class is focusing primarily on telescopic handlers and harvesting machines at this year's EIMA event. In the first segment, it is launching five new loader models in the 3 and 4 ton class. The increased hydraulic pressure of the new Scorpion telescopic handlers – the name of the latest creations from Claas – is characterized by an greater lifting capacity of up to 300 kg and a wheelbase increased by 100 mm to ensure balance and stability. Depending on the model, the Scorpions can be equipped with four different versions of hydrostatic transmissions up to 40 km/h, among which the new Varipower 3 stands out with twin engines capable of providing a 20% increase in power compared to the other versions. Even in terms of operator comfort, the new Scorpions are one step ahead thanks to the wide 360° view, a joystick built into the seat, and intuitive controls, which add up to a comfortable and silent workstation.
On the haymaking front, the German company is relaunching its Disco mower-conditioners with four new models: Disco 8500 C Trend, Disco 8500 RC Trend, Disco 9300 C Comfort and Disco 9300 RC Comfort. The innovative elements are the particularly robust and proven chassis with optimized center of gravity; the Active Float ground pressure regulation; the fast-reacting, non-stop mechanical collision protection with an angled pivot point for three-dimensional movement in the event of contact with an obstacle. Furthermore, the low speed concept of the Max Cut cutter bar allows the PTO to work at low speed and therefore at the optimum tractor torque, which helps reduce fuel consumption.
Still in the harvesting sector, but in this case inside the Jaguar forage harvesters, Claas is debuting its new V-Flex knife drum as an alternative to the time-tested V-Max drum. Claas asserts that years of research and feedback from farmers and contractors have led to the development of new drum capable of ensuring precise and consistent chopping quality. The 10-degree cutting angle makes cutting easier, improving efficiency when harvesting both corn and grass.
Moving on to the tractor segment, Claas is updating its specialized Nexos range of tractors at EIMA 2024. New features include the completely redesigned 4-post, flat-floor cab, the introduction of innovative hydraulic and electronic options, and numerous changes to the exterior design to simplify the connection of mid-mounted equipment. Inside the cab, the steering column has been completely redesigned to offer greater freedom of movement and to be more easily adjusted via a convenient pedal. The position and the layout of the controls are also new, contributing further to improving user comfort. Also worth mentioning among the restyling interventions is the implementation of Claas Connect technology which combines digital solutions for machine management, operational management and the service world in a single user interface. The digital ecosystem – as stated in a technical note from Claas – has not been designed solely for the vehicles, but is oriented towards all user needs. Regisitration is available at any time, even before purchasing a Claas machine, and makes it possible to enter the desired machine into the configurator and request a quote or demonstration. Upon delivery, the data of all machines and equipment is included in Claas Connect, including all relevant documents and licences.
