Mowers: the new Multimower range
The Multimower MR mowers emerge from the collaboration between the Japanese Subaru, which provided the propulsion system (with two 174 and 189 cc engines), the Milanese Ibea, which developed the project, and the Reggio company Multipower that handles the distribution. It is a range made up of five machines, all equipped with a sturdy steel and aluminium body, and an engine with overhead camshaft and distribution chain. Among the strengths of the two Subarus we find the cast iron cylinder, the main bearing, and the auto-choke device for the ignition, all technical characteristics that are synonymous with performance and reliability. Going into the details of the individual models, the MR480 comes with a 47 cm (steel) cutting body, a 55 litre bagger, and a device to use the mower in mulching mode. This model is also offered in a single-speed transmission version (MR480FLEET). Meanwhile, on the MR550 and MR550PLUS mowers, Ibea has implemented a 53 cm (aluminium) cutting body, a large 65 litre bagger, and a transmission system available both in the single speed version (MR 500) and with a Variomat drive (MR550PLUS) that adjusts the speed from a minimum of 3 to a maximum of 4.8 km/h. Finally, the MR555 is the machine dedicated to the mulching cutting system, and it is marketed with aluminium wheels, front wheel drive, single-speed transmission, and a device to adjust the centralized cutting. But the real “trump card” of the MR555 is the aluminium shell that is custom designed for mulching, reducing the processing times by up to 40% (manufacturer’s data) compared to a traditional lawn mower.
