BCS expanding in Brazil
BCS is strengthening the group's position in South America with the opening of a new branch in Brazil in Caxias do Sul, in the state of Rio Grande Do Sul between São Paulo and Porto Alegre. The completion of the new branch came as the most recent step in the expansion of BCS on foreign markets which began in 1967 with BCS Iberica and now extends to manufacturing plants located in France, Spain, China, Portugal, Germany and India. BCS Brazil Commercial Director Carlos Bidoia, in a communique issued by the group, pointed out that the country is a market of more than 220 million people where BCS agricultural machinery and equipment, especially compact specialist tractors and two-wheel tractors are ideal for meeting demand. He affirmed that Brazil will be a great leading player in production over the coming years and in the long term because it is the only country with the capacity to triple cultivated areas to become the heart of the world's agribusiness.
The start-up of the new facilities is a key factor in BCS plans for directly gaining the upper hand in Latin America where the group is present in such countries as Mexico, Peru and Chile under BCS Iberica management of the Central and South American markets. The opening of the Caxias do Sul plant is the result of careful market research which underscored the importance of the Brazilian market and the requirement to produce locally to overcome the limitations of duties applied to exports to the country. For the management of the plant, the group has selected a team of three, Ettore Borghi and brothers Carlos and Alex Bidoia arriving in Brazil after ten years on their jobs in Italy. Carlos Bidoia, the new commercial chief, aside from his Brazilian origin, was tapped for the position because of his experience in headquarters which allowed him to acquire a thorough understanding of the machinery ranges manufactured under the group's brands.
