Claas Nexos, Stage V engines make their debut with restyling

Four basic models - 220, 230, 240 and 260 - in six different versions: S, M, L, XL, MD and LD (for the latter two, specific for orchards, only the 220, 230 and 240 are provided). This is the new range of Nexos specialized tractors, which comes with the new Stage V engines and with powers that, depending on the model, start from 70 and go up to 120 horsepower.

Compared to previous versions, the most significant change is represented by the new Stage V engine, a 3.6-litre FPT four-cylinder equipped with SCR system for exhaust gas after-treatment. Another new item is the Powershift transmission, which now comprises five gears in three groups and optionally includes a hydraulic Revershift shuttle to change the direction of travel: 30 forward and 15 reverse gears are available with the two Twinshift ratios, while 30 reverse gears are available with the mechanical shuttle. Top speed is reached in the ECO variant at 40 km/h at 1,700 rpm. Also worthy of note, the Smart Stop function which automatically disengages the transmission when the footbrake is pressed, and re-engages it when it is released, facilitating not only braking and starting on slopes or intersections, but also front loader operations. Other innovations included the six-post cab, which was lowered and redesigned both in interior design (there's more legroom) and in the configuration of the controls (the brake lever is shorter). Another plus of the cab is the roof-integrated filtering system, category 4 (according to EN 15695), which protects the driver from hazardous dust, aerosols and vapours. The sealed cabin - explains the manufacturer in a press release - prevents the entry of hazardous substances and reduces noise levels. In addition to the adjustments made by Claas technicians, the new version of the Nexos specialist still has the traditional strong points of the previous series, starting with the Proactiv suspended front axle and the hydraulic system with a standard flow rate of 87 l/min (the hydraulic lift is controlled by a separate 27 l/min circuit). It also still features a compact size. The S, M, L versions have widths of 1, 1.25 and 1.45 metres, respectively, while the XL comes in at 1.55 metres. The MD and LD orchard-specific versions have widths of 1.25 and 1.45 metres.
