The new John Deere 5R, comfortable, efficient and compact
The new utility tractors by the American major are coming out with a reinforced full frame for even greater strength and durability with a low center of gravity to make them more manageable in work with a front loader. These compacts are powered by John Deere 4-cylinder engines turning out 90 to 135 Hp
EIMA International is set to showcase the new John Deere 5R series of utility tractors designed the meet the needs of small and medium farms and livestock raising enterprises. The new tractors were developed on the basis of the earlier 5R models and built for greater comfort, efficiency and facilitating operations. The new 5R range has an optimum wheelbase at 2.25 meters on a unique fused curved frame with a low center of gravity to make the tractor with a front loader even more maneuverable, thanks also to a steering radius of 3.75 meters with a loader mounted. The engines are John Deere PWX common rail 4.5 liter with low fuel consumption and which comply with the Stage IIIB/iT4 emissions standard and turn out nominal 90 Hp for the 5090R model,100 Hp for the 5100R, 115 for the 5115R and 125 on the 5125R. Also of note is the Transport Power Manager (TPM) with which these 4-cylinder engines can boost power by 10 Hp for transport. The transmission options range from three versions which include the basic 16/16 manual CommandQuad™ with four ranges and PowerShift gear ranges in each range; the 16/16 automatic CommandQuad™; the Command8™ 32/16 with eight PowerShift gear ranges and an ECO enabling speed of up to 40 km/h at only 1759 rpm and an optional super-reducer. These transmissions feature fully automatic clutches, individual gear change points and for individual regulations for speed and an electronic parking brake. The Premium Command8 32/16 provides as standard automatic change which is also offered for the CommandQuad™ automatic 16/16 transmission. With weight of 4.3 tons, these new 5R series tractors have a lift capacity at 4.7 tons or, optionally, 5.3 tons. The open center valves hydraulic system has a 96 liter/min standard pump and there is an option for a pressure compensated flow pump at 117 liter/min. The system is equipped with four valves with manual or electronic control which ensure powerful cycles for speedy work. For more comfort for the operator, especially on uneven terrain and the new John Deere tractors provide rear axle suspension with shock absorbers which can be regulated +/-45 mm as necessary or disactivated. Available on the 5R are mechanical suspension seats with two shock absorbers which can be regulated and require no maintenance and, coming as optional an air suspended seat with an adjustable backrest, pneumatic lumbar support and seat heating to further increase the comfort of the driver or a Grammer pneumatic suspension seat type on the 6R series tractors with the lumbar support features and seat heading. The new cab also features a steering wheel which can be brought forward to the driver for an optimum operating position plus a PDU+ display mounted at an angle, rounded glass panels for a clear, unobstructed view and an optional glass roof hatch to provide perfect visibility to the rear and for accurate loader work and an ergonomic control panel. The front loader with an automatic coupling system for mounting the implement has a lift increase of 10%. The driver can operate the lift to fit the requirements by using a mechanical joystick or electronic joystock, both of which are connected to the tractor seat.
