John Deere-Cicoria, the new line of compact presses
Starting from the 2020 season, the new small square balers will be marketed by John Deere, completing the haymaking range of the US manufacturer. The new line signed by the “home of the deer” was born thanks to a partnership between the American producer and Cicoria Srl, a company of Palazzo San Gervasio (Potenza) specialized in the design and manufacture of “ultra-compact” square presses. Two models are on offer, the S 160 and S 180, both with the possibility of choosing between a wire binding system or twine knotting system. What distinguishes them above all is their performance. The S 160 square baler is equipped with a large 1.6 metre binder and is capable of forming bales of 47 centimetres in width and 35 in height. The S 180 model is presented with a 1.8 metre binder; in this case the bales measure 49 centimetres in width and 37 in height. As for the length, it starts from a minimum of 40 centimetres to reach a maximum of 130. The demand for power from the tractor is decidedly small: just 39 horsepower for the S 160 and 50 for the S 180 model. Lastly, it is worth remembering that John Deere has provided a rich set of accessories for the new “ultra-compact” square presses, expressly designed to satisfy the most diverse work requirements.
