Kuhn, a high-tech system for plow raising
Kuhn was awarded a silver medal at the Agritechnica 2017 for the manufacturer’s Smart Plowing system. Kuhn’s “Section control” is an electro-hydraulic control system that uses the hydraulic, non-stop break-back system to control the individual plow bodies based on GPS positioning data, raising and lowering them automatically. The automatic raising and lowering of the bodies ensures straight furrow edges rather than Z shapes for uniform and repeatable results for operations in the field and eliminates Z shape furrows on headland plowing. The system also incorporates crop residues, reduces the time taken for headland plowing while decreasing headland compaction. Moreover, automatic maneuverability means operaters are subjected to less stress and less skilled operators can perform high quality work in the field. Another advantage with the system is that the number of plow bodies put to work can be varied according to soil conditions and the power of the tractor. The prize winning Kuhn electro-hydraulic Section Control and the application of electronics comes along as yet another system for agricultural machinery to boost the optimization of operations and lower impact on the environment while providing greater comfort and better work conditions for operators.
