High-Tech Evolution for New Holland BigBalers
Among the numerous innovations presented at Agritechnica (see Mondo Macchina no.11), New Holland also proposed to the visitors of the event a new technology applied to the BigBaler range, the IntelliSense Bale Automation system. The heart of the device is the LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) sensor, located in the front of the tractor cab, which, through a laser pulse projected in front of the machine, detects and analyzes the swath. The solution developed by New Holland automatically adjusts the steering, which is set not only to follow the crop, but also to ensure a uniform filling of the baler chamber thanks to the piston load sensors. The InterlliSense system can operate both day and night and is designed to work in environments characterized by the presence of dust and low contrast. The section of the platform measured by the LiDAR is also used to control the speed of the tractor, which can be reduced to avoid overloads or it can be increased to optimize operations in areas with lower hay density. New Holland's technology offers the operator two modes of assisted baling, which can be used in combination or independently. The first allows you to set the maximum speed of the machine and the number of sections per bale through the IntelliCruiseII application, which adjusts the speed of progress to the number of sections set. The second, on the other hand, uses the tractor's SmartSteer to engage automatic guidance every time a swath is detected and to centre the swath itself with respect to the pick-up. This solution therefore guarantees the formation of optimal bales because it automatically performs all the necessary adjustments required by the piston load cells. The IntelliSense technology will be available for the New Holland Big Baler Plus range and for the Big Baler High Density models starting in 2024.
