Gramegna spading machines, great performance even
New machinery in the sector of soil preparation arriving from Gramegna – a manufacturer in Borni, near Pavia, specialized in spading machines, shredder mulchers and rotary hoes – preparing to unveil a new line of spading machines built for big farming enterprises and contractors. The Lombardy company’s technicians designed the new 40 Series for deep penetration of the soil even in the most hostile conditions of very wet or very dry terrain. The 40 Series spading machines, with a special high ground clearance, are equipped with upper joints equipped with special-seal bearings to help ensure top flight performance also on soil stacked with crop residues. Among the other strong points built in by Gramegna are a super-robust frame and a rear PTO which allows the operator to deploy the spading machine with other implements for the immediate preparation of a seedbed. The manufacturer’s 40 line comes in three models with working widths of 3 and 4 m requiring tractor power starting with 130 Hp (96 kW). A Gramegna communique said that compared to other types of soil preparation operations, spading machines provide a number of benefits regarding the quality of work as well as fuel consumption. Plowing, for example, lifts the soil with the cutting action of the share leaving a smooth compacted bed hidden under the loosened layer of the soil. The negative effects are worsened by further plowing. Even greater soil compaction is caused by plowing in furrows. The spading machine, on the other hand, detaches the soil rather than slicing it to leave a porous permeable bed which allows the soil to breath and absorb water.
