Emak, a complete line of battery-powered machines
This past November Emak launched its new line of 56V battery-powered gardening machines. Designed for green care professionals, the Efco and Oleo-Mac branded series include various equipment types equipped with high-performance brushless motors: two traditional brush cutters, a multi-functional brush cutter, a telescopic pruner, a hedge trimmer, a pole hedge trimmer, a blower, and three models of lawnmowers.
The models have a series of features in common such as the large digital display that makes it possible to view various useful information such as residual charge, the selected working speed, and maintenance warnings. A smartphone App makes it possible to register the machine fleet, download the maintenance manual and view the amount of hours worked. Every piece of equipment comes with a charger and three types of batteries: 2.5 Ah, 4 Ah and 8 Ah. Charging time has been reduced, as – according to the Reggio Emilia company – it takes just 29 minutes to recharge 80% of the battery. The new cells and the control system employed serve to extend the battery life cycle over time – Emak states – without deterioration and help to reduce working time.
Specific products offered by Emak we are pleased to mention here include the light and powerful Efco DSi 530 S / DSi 530Tand Oleo-Mac BCi 530 S / BCi 530 T. There are four different speed settings, depending on the type of work to be performed. The S version features a loop grip, and the T version boasts an ergonomic handlebar. With the same power as the petrol models but more lightweight, the Efco SAi 570 and Oleo-Mac BVi 570 blowers can be adjusted to three speed levels and are equipped with a boost function to increase thrust capacity. The Efco TGi 560 and Oleo-Mac HCi 56 0 hedge trimmers are machines designed to be used by green care professionals; they weigh only 4.8 kg, and have high-quality blades and a powerful engine that can achieve up to 3,400 cuts per minute, making it possible to prune hedges with bulky branches and thick foliage. The compact, tapered shape and the 180 degree rotating handlemake it possible to work on thicker vegetation. To achieve greater operational precision with all types of vegetation, the technicians of the Reggio Emilia company have designed the Efco DSi 530 HL and Oleo-Mac BCi 530 HL pole hedge trimmers, which feature a working speed of up to 4,600 cuts per minute, 11-position adjustment, a dynamic Power Unit, a 55-centimeter blade and are lightweight (5.4 kg without battery). The Efco PTXi 530 and Oleo-Mac PPXi 530 telescopic pruners are equipped with an extendable and adjustable pole on steel springs, which optimizes cutting even on trees over 5 meters tall with a high cutting speed (20 meters per second). The Efco DSi 530 D and Oleo-Mac BCi 530 D multi-function brush cutters have a “no tools” quick coupling system, which makes it possible to quickly switch from one application to another without using tools.
They are extremely versatile and designed for mowing the lawn, pruning hedges, trimming trees and bushes, and blowing away leaves or debris. The new line of battery-powered equipment is rounded out by the Efco LRi 548 P, LRi 548 V and Oleo-Mac Gi 548 P, Gi 548 P and Gi 553 V lawnmowers which – Emak says – offer the same performance as petrol engines. The power delivered by the 2.1 kW engine allows the machine to operate on the most challenging terrain, while the Power Unit houses up to two large 8 Ah batteries, which contain up to 806 watt hours for considerable working autonomy.
