Zaragoza FIMA golden anniversary

FIMA, the Spanish exhibition for agricultural machinery this year celebrates 50 years of activity. 1200 exhibitors are expected to showcase on a surface of 133,000 m² and display the latest innovations in the sector

The 38th edition of the International Exhibition for Agricultural Machinery, Fima, will be held from 11 to 13 February in Spain in the exhibition area in Zaragoza. The exposition, started in 1964, has been a biennial event since the the mid 2000s, and this year is celebrating 50 years of activity which have accompanied the development and mechanization of the primary sector. The most recent Fima exhibit, held in 2012, was attended by 203,000 visitors from 64 countries, 1,182 exhibitors, of which 678 arrived from abroad, showcasing a wide range of machinery and equipment for all types of agricultural activity. The Technical Innovation Competition has always been among the most important events and this year about one hundred innovative models of machinery have entered the contest. Seven prizes have been awarded in the category tractors, self propelled machines and energy, two of them in particular are considered sobrasaliente: the John Deere Hitch Assist and the New Holland Opti-Grape for harvesters. Ten firms have been awarded in the section powered machines and fixed and mobile installations, with two honorable mentions for the Khun system for measurement and control in the distribution of fertilizer and for the Teejet Technologies Dynajet Flex 7920 variable-rate sprayer nozzles. Finally five innovations have been awarded in the section agricultural management solutions among which the Forigo Roter Italia TP Sens recorder of temperature and vibrations without contacts for agricultural machinery. As always FIMA also hosts a series of meetings, technical conferences and seminars on agriculture, among which the National Congress on Rural Development and the Spanish Cereal and Oilseed Trade Association meeting, along with a series of meetings of retailers of the most important brands. To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the exhibition the organizers will also hold a journalism competition for the Spanish agricultural press. Articles and reports, paper, audio or video, that describe the role played by FIMA in the development of agriculture in Spain will be awarded. The winners of the competition will be announced during the exhibition. FederUnacoma will take part in FIMA with an institutional stand (Stand 32 – Pavilion 1) and will hold a press conference, February 13 at 11:30 in the hall 4, during which the 2014 edition of EIMA International will be presented.
