SKD, SAER solar-powered pumps
SAER from Guastalla (Reggio Emilia) has always been at the forefront in developing efficient and innovative technologies and is now able to equip all the pumps of its range with solar panel power supply panels (solar hybrid inverter). This is a highly beneficial solution since it allows the implementation of facilities even in the most remote areas, where the electrical infrastructure is lacking. SAER has recently finalized a supply of five SKD split case pumps powered by solar panels, intended for a critical irrigation project (over 4 thousand hectares of land) in Central Asia.
The system is organized into two pumping stations, one with two pumps and one with three.
The five SKDZ4P250-400-G pumps have a power of 200 kW each and reach a flow of 1.650 m³/hour at a head of about 30 meters during the hours of the greatest solar radiation. Each pump is powered by a solar energy system with a power of 240 kW, for a total of 1.2 MW, with the possibility of connecting 20 additional strings to increase the power of the photovoltaic system, thus improving the performance in the hours of lower radiation.
The electrical system is designed to be connected to a generator or the power grid in order to provide a hybrid power supply, simultaneously exploiting the DC energy produced by the solar panels and the AC energy, and during the night with the AC energy only. The SKD series comprises more than 80 models (from 15 to 1200 kW) featuring flow rates up to 4500 m³/h and long-lasting, stable performance over time. SKD pumps are offered in horizontal or vertical settings and can be made with different types of materials (cast iron, AISI 316, bronze, super duplex) and different seals.
