Working safely: at the fair seminars on the use of chainsaws
The Minoprio Foundation collaborates with Comagarden (FederUnacoma) to offer refresher courses for maintenance professionals, all within the exhibition on agricultural machinery, gardening, and park maintenance
The safe use of chainsaws is the topic of the training course that the Minoprio Foundation organizes, in collaboration with Comagarden (FederUnacoma), as part of EIMA Green, the International exhibition of machines and tools for gardening and park maintenance that takes place from November 9 to 13 at the Bologna exhibition centre. Working in partnership with ISFOL (Lombard Forestry Instructors), the Minoprio Foundation has gained specific experience in the training of park and forestry technicians and maintenance professionals. The full training can be carried out to obtain licencing and professional development credits (under the CSR Agreement no. 53 of 22/02/2012). As for the use of chainsaws, the courses have a different durations and specificities, from the correct use of the tool (valid for the purposes of Italian Legislative Decree no. 81/2008 on the employer’s obligation to provide information, education, and training to the worker) up to the training of forestry operators for felling trees in forests. EIMA Green is the Show that takes place in the broader context of EIMA International, one of the largest events in the world devoted to agricultural engineering, and within it the Minoprio Foundation offers some presentations by ISFOL on the “Safe use of chainsaws”. Forestry instructors will be available to those who need to operate a chainsaw (for work or hobby), to provide information on its technical characteristics, proper maintenance, safety standards, use of personal protective equipment - PPEs (hearing protection and cut-resistant clothing), and the correct use of the chainsaw itself to prevent accidents and optimize the work.
The presentations will be structured like real “lessons”, with the support of explanatory slides and a practical demonstration of equipment maintenance and chain sharpening. They will have a duration of three hours for a maximum of 20 participants, who will have to register in the special section accessible from the website www.eimagreen.it (“schedule” area). The courses provided at EIMA, set for Thursday, November 10 (the morning at 10-13 hours and the afternoon at 14-17 hours at the Vivace Hall), and Friday 11 (morning only, 10-13 at the Trio Hall), represent an effective introduction to the safe use of chainsaws. Operators will be able to complete this course with subsequent meetings at the Minoprio headquarters, including the practical tests required for issuing the licence. Moreover, the Minoprio Foundation is a partner of EFESC (European Forestry and Environmental Skills Council), a European association that promotes the achievement of the European Chainsaw Certificate. Already active in many countries like Germany, Belgium, Holland, France, Spain, and Austria, this certificate allows the training recognition and movement of workers, raising the quality of work performance in the forestry sector, and improving occupational safety conditions.
