MTS-Sandei has announced an important new development in the form of the exclusive supply of Volvo Penta engines for the top range of their self-propelled mechanical harvesters. The manufacturer issued a communique explained that the move was decided on because of the need to change their engine exhaust treatment technology and boost the performance of their harvesters and the fuel consumption of their models. The MTS-Sandei choice was a 252 Hp 6 cylinder inline engine. The Volvo Penta TAD870-VE 8 liter engine with a low noise level features a very flexible power and torque layout as well as an efficient injection system. These strong points, in combination a robust engine design, are optimized by SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) technology and a cooled EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) leading to excellent combustion and lowing the fuel consumption bar. Thanks to this new motorization, the machines manufactured by the company in Pontenure, near Piacenza, are becoming greener and more productive with management costs made more attractive for end-users, due also to the facilitated maintenance of this 8 cylinder Volvo engine. Three model feature the same construction architecture with four-wheel drive with steering selection, hydraulic disc brakes in oil bath, hydraulic drive with fixed piston displacement at 75 liters/minute, hydraulic belts with load sensing cylinder pump at 135 liters/minute plus excellent harvesting capacities and size. The top range machine can operated with a pace of as many as 60 to 70 tons harvested per hour.
