Optum: Case IH technologies for Stage V engines
Case IH presented updates on the Optum CVXDrive models at EIMA 2018, a novelty not on an aesthetic level but also on a substantial level, because they affect the solutions and the technology adopted to comply with the forthcoming EU Stage V emissions regulations. The solution adopted by Case IH is provided by the subsidiary FPT Industrial and uses a technology protected by thirteen patents. Without the exhaust gas recycling, fuel consumption is reduced to a minimum and combustion is more efficient. The configuration is also simplified without the application of additional turbochargers. Thanks to this design solution, the after-treatment system is maintenance-free and the reliability and usage times are maximized. In addition, all Optum Stage Vs are equipped with AFS Connect data transmission, as standard equipment, to increase connectivity and simplify fleet management.
Internal updates have also enabled extending the engine oil maintenance interval from 600 hours to 750 hours. At the same time, the transmission oil change interval has risen to 1,500 hours, compared to the previous 1,200 hours. For the owner, this means less time needed for servicing and lower total cost of ownership.
Further improvements of the Optum models include the adoption of the AccuTurn Pro system, which automates the management of the headland turns, combining the advantages of the HMC II system and the AccuTurn system in a single function, designed to further lighten the work for the operator and increase productivity, as well as minimize the trodden areas at the headland. The Case IH Maxxum 145 Multicontroller has been awarded “Tractor of the Year 2019” and “Best Design 2019”. Launched last year along with three more compact models with 116 to 135 Hp, the 145 Hp Maxxum 145 Multicontroller counts among its strengths the semi-powershift transmission eight-stage ActiveDrive 8, as well as the Multicontroller joystick and armrest.
