December 2024 | Back

At this year's EIMA event, Irritec, a company from Capo d'Orlando (Messina), launched two new technologies for sustainable irrigation on the market. The first is the Intelligent Fertigation System for Biofortified Agricultural Production (Sistema di Fertirrigazione Intelligente per le Produzioni Agricole biofortificate, SFIDA), which received an EIMA 24 Honorable Mention in the Technical Innovation Competition at this year's event in Bologna. SFIDA came out of a project funded by the Ministry of Economic Development and carried out with the scientific support of the Italian Universities of Rome and Catania, and Wageningen in the Netherlands, and is a solution that makes it possible to optimize water resources and improve the nutritional quality of agricultural products. Equipped with an intelligent control unit, SFIDA analyzes field and satellite data, develops forecasting models and automates fertigation. Self-learning algorithms guide the control unit operations with complete and always up-to-date information.

Irritec's other new product is Armonia®, a line created to provide efficient irrigation that is perfectly integrated with the surrounding environment. The result of an exclusive patent, it is composed of products made with Camo®, the special layered texture with a natural look, completely innovative. These products, such as drip lines, fittings, filters and all other components of a complete irrigation system aim to ensure visual sustainability to further enhance the beauty of the places where it is installed.

In addition to presenting its latest product innovations, Irritec also celebrated its 50th anniversary at EIMA International. Active in the agro-mechanical sector since 1974, the Group has spread to global markets, replicating the business model that has made it so successful in Sicily and throughout Italy.

Irritec presently has 17 production and sales offices, with more than 1,000 employees worldwide, exporting its products to 120 countries. "Achieving the milestone of fifty years in business has only been possible through the work and dedication of many people: a large family – commented Carmelo Giuffrè CEO & Chairman of Irritec - to all of whom I am immensely grateful. Starting in Sicily, we have developed irrigation technologies that today improve crops and permit significant water savings in many countries around the world".
