Claas/Trimble: new GPS guidance systems
Collaboration between the German company Claas and the American Trimble on satellite guidance, precision agriculture and ISOBUS with the development of a new generation of GNSS (global navigation satellite system) based devices.
This is the Claas GPS Pilot, for which Trimble supplies the GNSS Sat 900, which the Harsewinkel-based company has now also introduced in the Arion and Axion tractors, the Jaguar forage harvesters and the Lexion combine harvesters after having already adopted it for the Trion harvesters. The new device will be paired with a new terminal, the ISObus Cemis 1200 with 12-inch touch display, which will replace the S10.
Claas has estimated that by using this guidance system, it is possible for operators to achieve equal field tracks, utilise the full working width, reduce overlaps, optimise the use of equipment with greater precision and therefore save 5% of total labour costs.
The documentation area linked to the guidance system, Claas Telematics and Claas Connect, and the connection to 365FarmNet will continue to be developed exclusively by Claas, which will also adopt the DataConnect interfaces and Claas APIs for external platforms (FieldView or OMNIA).
The new customised guidance system will only be available on Claas vehicles and will be sold and serviced exclusively by the German manufacturer's dealer network.
Carsten Hoff, Managing Director of Claas E-Systems, speaking about the cooperation with the US manufacturer, said: "Trimble guidance systems have been tried and tested for many years in many regions of the world and offer extremely precise and reliable guidance as well as numerous functions, such as satellite assistance, which is available globally, but also transmission and line planning. With the support of our sister company Müller-Elektronik, Trimble has excellent expertise in the areas of ISObus and task management, which fully complements our expertise and technology.
