de, ilmovimento terrae la relativa componentistica che rap-
presenta oggi una delle realtà più importanti dell’universo
confindustriale. «Si è scelto di celebrare aMilano l’anniver-
sariodell’associazione–spiega il presidenteMassimoGol-
doni – perché grazieadEXPOquesta cittàèdivenuta il cuo-
redi ogni iniziativa in temadi agricolturaealimentazione, e
quindi rappresenta in qualche modo la casa anche della
meccanica agricola, che è all’origine delle filiere agroali-
mentari». «Ma si è scelta la città di Milano – aggiunge Gol-
doni – anche per una ragione d’ordine storico, giacché pro-
prio inquesta città fu costituita l’associazione, subitodopo
la fine della guerra, in un clima che aveva visto la liberazio-
ne del capoluogo lombardo come atto che di fatto poneva
fine alla guerra, e apriva un ciclo nuovo». In quel clima l’as-
sociazionismo imprenditoriale sentiva il dovere di darsi un

and related components, representing today one of themost
important elements in the Confindustria universe. “We chose
to celebrate the anniversary of the association inMilan - said
ChairmanMassimoGoldoni - because thanks toEXPO this city
has become the heart of every initiative in the field of agricul-
ture and food, and therefore is it somehow also the home of
agricultural engineering, which is the origin of the food pro-
duction chains.”“Wealso chose the city ofMilan - addsGoldoni
- for a historical reason, since the associationwas born in this
city, soonafter theendof thewar, ina climate that saw the lib-
eration of the Lombard capital as the act that effectively end-
ed thewar, and opened a new cycle.” In that climate, the busi-
ness associations felt a duty to give themselves a high goal,
something thatwouldgobeyond simply representing theneeds
of an industrial sector.Mechanizationwould allow Italian agri-
culture to increase productivity by starting the process of in-
dustrializationof theprimary sector,which is at the root of the
development ofWesterneconomies, and it couldonly do soby
taking on the practical needs of the industry, with its produc-
tionand structural characteristics.The “historical”members re-
call how the association was established with the initiative of
just ten companies. It soon brought together many other en-
trepreneurs in the sector, with a branch in every region of the
countryandawide rangeof equipment to suit thepedoclimatic
conditions, theproductive vocations,and the farming structures
of our country. The close link with the rural reality is also evi-
