Merlo Group is set to close 2023 with a growth in production volumes of approximately 8%, especially in the earthmoving sector. The performance is in line with the objectives of the 2022-2025 industrial plan, which provides for an annual production target of 10,000 machines, however it is considered particularly significant as it was achieved in a complex economic context. In a difficult economic situation like that of recent years, characterized by the increase in energy prices, the war in Ukraine - the largest European steel producer -, inflation and the rise in interest rates, the Group has promoted a strategy based on investments and on increasing production capacity. A concrete example of this direction is the decision to strengthen the presence in the United States. North America, where for a decade the San Defendente company was represented by an importer, will soon see the opening of a branch located in Charlotte, North Carolina. «We decided to be present in person – explained Paolo Merlo, president of the Piemonte based company – because we think that our telescopic handlers have ample opportunity to grow in the USA. We will export the entire product range and, in perspective, we aim to have market shares close to 15%, comparable to those in Europe".
